Vision for Our Church Small Groups

Small groups are the life of a church family. Especially now, during the COVID pandemic, we need a way to connect, continue to grow in Jesus, walk with each other through life's challenges, and experience fellowship and true friendship.

Since April, our church has continued to grow and thrive because of the online small groups we have formed for both adults and children. We praise God for the vision and inspiration from the Holy Spirit to do this.

As we go on from month to month now, we continue to see and experience the need for regular Christian fellowship that includes sharing, testimonies, prayer, singing, and Bible study.

Three types of adult small groups are possible:

  1. Short Prayer Calls: For 30-35 minutes we get together to read 1-2 paragraphs in a book or in the Bible, and then we share prayer requests and pray. This is not a typical "fellowship group" that lasts an hour or more. It is short, and focused on spiritual growth nuggets and prayer.
  2. Christian Fellowship Groups: For 60-90 minutes we get together to (1) catch up socially, (2) study God's word or a Christian growth book and discuss the application of the reading, and (3) share prayer requests and pray together. The best practice model for Christian Fellowship Groups is having a near equal time for each of three elements of the group. Another key element of a group like this is to have a song to sing together, either at the beginning or end of the group time.
  3. Bible Study Groups: For 60 minutes we get together to study God's word or a Christian growth book and discuss the application of the reading, then share prayer requests and pray together. Bible study groups differ from Christian Fellowship Groups because more emphasis is placed on personal connection and sharing individual challenges in the Christian Fellowship Group. There is still an emphasis on scriptural application and spiritual growth in the Bible Study group.

The prayer of our Pastors and Elders is that every individual in our church family is connected with a small group. This is vital to Christian growth and friendship.

Please prayerfully consider becoming apart of a small group. Also prayerfully consider reaching out to one of the head elders to suggest a small group idea.

If you are interested in leading a small group, we will be having small group leader training sessions, so that all of our groups are set up for health, safety, and success.
